Hannibal: 10 Moments Almost Too Disgusting For TV

8. Handful Of Organs

Who hasn't thought about how awful it would be to wake up during surgery? Not being able to move or speak but being fully aware of every slice? The very thought is nightmarish. In Roti, for Dr. Frederick Chilton, this nightmare became a truly repugnant reality. Dr. Abel Gideon escapes the psychiatric hospital where he was being held for murder and systematically begins a killing spree that focuses on all of the psychiatrists that diagnosed him prior to his incarceration. Lucky for Dr. Chilton, he gets special attention. Gideon uses his surgical expertise to place him under a conscious sedation and removes his less vital organs while Chilton watches helplessly. He leaves Chilton alive, but holding the contents of his entire thoracic cavity in his own hands. Watching Gideon remove Chilton's kidney and portions of his intestines while slapping his face to keep him alert and aware of exactly what he was doing, was downright horrifying. The image of swollen organs emerging from a conscious man's flayed open torso is something that will make even the strongest stomach turn.
