Hannibal: 6 Reasons It Should Come Back (And 4 Reasons It Shouldn't)
6. It's A Phenomenal Show That Ended Too Soon
When Bryan Fuller started Hannibal, he originally envisioned seven seasons for the show. However, this blueprint would not come to pass. Thanks to decisions made by NBC and Fuller being unable to acquire the Silence of the Lambs character rights, the show was reduced to three seasons. While the argument could be made that Fuller was overly-ambitious, the three seasons we got were nothing short of spectacular. So much to that it's frankly a shame that three seasons was all we got.
Hannibal was truly a brilliant piece of television, nay, a brilliant piece of art that ended far before its time and was never properly appreciated until it was gone. It provided a brand-new take on its titular character, the iconic Hannibal Lecter, as well as all of the other characters involved. Moreover, it was brilliantly written, beyond riveting and perfectly haunting, in addition to being a visually stunning production.
Had Hannibal ran for longer than it did, which it absolutely should have, there's absolutely no doubt that it would have maintained the high standard it set for itself. It was such a fantastic show that a revival is a genuinely exciting prospect.
