Harry Potter: 10 Book Moments Every Fan Wants In A TV Adaptation

7. Kreacher’s Tale – The Deathly Hallows

In The Deathly Hallows Part 1, Kreacher briefly mentions what happened to Regulus Black (Sirius’s younger brother), but the lack of detail is frustrating when compared with Rowling’s original tale.

A full flashback sequence showing Regulus’s betrayal of the Dark Lord and his noble sacrifice inside the cave would give some overdue credit to one of the most underrated characters in Harry Potter.

More importantly, however, the recounting of Regulus’s bravery is the catalyst for Kreacher’s character development. After he tells this story to the main trio, they have much more sympathy with the elf. As a result, they treat him with respect, and within days, he’s performing his duties with efficiency and kindness.

In essence, the problem with the movie adaptation is that Dobby’s presence in Grimmauld Place overshadows Kreacher’s change of heart. And by extension, he comes across as rather one-dimensional. But with a TV show, there would be ample time to give Kreacher more depth.
