Harry Potter: 10 Book Moments Every Fan Wants In A TV Adaptation

6. Ludo Bagman – The Goblet Of Fire

The entire subplot involving Ludo Bagman was missing from the movie version of The Goblet of Fire. It’s a great shame because, in addition to his jovial personality, Bagman’s suspicious behaviour is a terrific red herring.

Throughout the Triwizard Tournament, he routinely tries to help Harry with the tasks. Minutes before Harry is due to tackle the Hungarian Horntail, Bagman says he’s willing to offer advice if he needs it. And several weeks before the Second Task, he offers to help Harry solve the golden egg’s clue.

Of course, Mad-Eye Moody (Barty Crouch Junior) turns out to be the real villain of the story. And the reason Bagman tries to help so much is that he placed a huge bet on Harry to win the Tournament in the hope he could solve his financial difficulties.

It’s an interesting subplot and as long as the right actor was playing the role, Bagman’s presence during Harry’s fourth year would help to create an extra layer of intrigue throughout the story.
