Harry Potter TV Show: 13 Changes To The Originals They Should Make
3. Spare Lupin
The Harry Potter series is full of death, and that's fine; most of the character deaths in this series are beautifully done. Having said that, there is one that always felt like a step too far, and that's the passing of Remus Lupin.
Aside from the fact that Lupin is one of the very best characters in the series, his death during the Battle of Hogwarts has always felt a bit cruel. He'd just got married and become a father, and after all the tragedy in his life surely he deserved something approaching a happy ending?
When JK Rowling revealed that she hadn't actually intended for Lupin to die originally, that wasn't all that surprising, since this death did always feel pretty pointless. She had originally intended to kill off Arthur Weasley, which would've been heart-breaking as well, but that would've felt less unnecessary.
So come on, let Lupin live in this version of the story. And Tonks as well, while you're at it.
