TV is able to attract bigger stars these days, and nowhere is that more evident than HBO (again, I'll mention True Detective, but also something like the upcoming Big Little Lies, which will star Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon). Combine that with the attraction of working with Scorsese and Jagger, and it's no surprise that a stellar cast has been put together for Vinyl. Olivia Wilde (House, Rush) will play Devon Finestra, the wife of Bobby Cannavale's Richie. She'll be a former actress and model, who was one of Andy Warhol's superstars in the 60s, she'll slip back into that lifestyle when there's a strain on her relationship with her husband. Then there's Juno Temple, previously nominated for a BAFTA Rising Star Award and with appearances in the likes of The Dark Knight Rises. She'll be playing Jaime Vine, a rising talent within the series' record label, who has an ear for spotting new talent and is determined to work her way up the ladder. Ray Romano - everyone loves him, right? - will be Zak Yankovich, a partner of Richie's and Head of Promotion at the record label. He'll also have connections to the mob, because Scorsese. The rest of the cast includes James Jagger as the lead singer of a punk band (yes, that is Mick Jagger's son), Ato Essandoh, and Max Casella.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
