HBO's Watchmen TV Show: Everything We Know So Far

6. It Does Not Appear Connected To The Doomsday Clock Comics

There seems to be no bigger Watchmen fan than DC comic writer Geoff Johns. Among several others, Johns has expressed enthusiasm for Damon Lindelof's series. But Johns has also been busy weaving a highly elaborate Watchmen canon of his very own. Doomsday Clock not only follows closely after the closing events of the original Watchmen comic, but marks a highly epic and pivotal crossover event between the world of Watchmen and the world of DC.

There's a whole swathe of reasons why we shouldn't expect any references to this in the TV series. With the series being HBO sanctioned, we won't likely see anything remotely DC related.

And with Damon Lindelof and Geoff Johns having such mutual respect for each other, it's fairly certain that both Watchmen events will operate in spite of one other. Different parts of the same canon, both created with equal substance, can serve as a great treat for fans, who can in turn use their own imagination to draw parallels as they see fit.
