HBO's Watchmen TV Show: Everything We Know So Far
5. Trent Reznor And Atticus Ross Are Composing The Music
Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor, and band-mate/musical collaborator Atticus Ross, have been officially announced as the brains behind the Watchmen series' soundtrack. And that is very good news for the overall tone of the series.
Trent Reznor may be known classically for his brazen industrial compositions in NIN, but he also has a remarkable talent for ambient and sinister musical scoring. He and Atticus Ross composed the soundtrack for 2010's The Social Network, and 2011's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. In both cases, they picked up awards for their efforts.
The brooding and surreal potential for Lindelof's series means that Reznor and Ross are the perfect musical match-up. All the possible narrative ups, downs, twists and shockers, can be encapsulated to great effect within their style of music.
As a slightly benign reference, check out Trent Reznor's musical guest appearance in the last season of Twin Peaks, as an example of his brooding on-stage charisma. That's not to say that a guest appearance will be on the cards in Watchmen. But then again, you never know.
