HBO's Watchmen TV Show: Everything We Know So Far

With all indications pointing to this series being totally different to what we've seen already, the question could be asked: Is this really Watchmen at all?

Well, besides the numerous references, the series will most certainly contain an overall gloss connecting it to the canon material on a number of levels. We've already mentioned the iconic bright yellow donned by the police force. But Watchmen was renowned also for its unique construction of three-dimensional characters and intricate storytelling, combining stomach-churning political relevance with utter surrealism.

Let's also not forget the high level of dark humor dotted across every panel, and the uncountable clever references to its own narrative and a whole swathe of other cultural trivia. We are most certainly living in the age of the 'eagle-eyed' viewer: Virtually every line of a script, and everything that's placed in shot, has meaning, and this has been utilised more and more by TV/filmmakers as the years have gone by.

The Watchmen series is set to contain all of these conventions, making this as true to its own source material as any other product.
