1. Have A Complete End-To-End Story In Mind With A Satisfying Conclusion Mapped Out
What of the most interesting and yet still frustrating elements about season finales of Heroes was that each conclusion was a set up to something more. Season one's Genesis led to season two's Generations, which in turn led to season three's Villains and Fugitives and finally season four's Redemption (concluding with the open ending Brave New World). Each was a clever motif to get audiences hooked into watching the next season, but also ultimately undermined the conclusion of each volume by immediately focusing on the next. If this is to be a limited series then Heroes Reborn needs to have a definitive ending without the introduction of another volume to come. While I get that life doesn't have such closure, it would be very frustrating to see (chapter six?) Reborn end and immediately be greeted by Volume seven... Whether there is another season / limited run after Reborn or not, at this stage, like 24: Live Another Day, this new story can serve to offer the closure that it never got back in 2010. The writers need to have a complete end-to-end story mapped out that gives us an intriguing build up and a satisfying conclusion within its thirteen-episode structure. It's far better for the show to return and end on a high then be remembered as a failed attempt to flog a dead horse. If we're lucky and the writers learn from past mistakes, we'll hopefully be in for something special. Because when Heroes was good, it was very good. For now, we'll just have to wait and see.
