Heroes Reborn: 7 Reasons To Look Forward To The Revival

5. A Self-Contained Storyline

The first season of Heroes was dependent on Isaac's prophecy of an exploding man in New York, and destiny was therefore the driving force of the plot. Most of the characters were initially unknown to the others, but all were destined to meet in Kirby Plaza in the season finale as Nathan and Peter Petrelli saved the world. It was an entirely self-contained storyline which Heroes failed to replicate in the following seasons. The miniseries has been announced as a one-off, so the pressure of renewal shouldn't prevent a proper resolution. Heroes' single greatest mistake was resurrecting Peter and Sylar in season two; they were the show's clearest representatives of good and evil and each dies as a perfect foil to the other, in that Peter sacrifices himself heroically and Sylar dies condemned as a villain. If NBC really wants to keep Heroes: Reborn on for a second run, it can turn it into an anthology series with a different set of characters, so at least we aren't cheated out of an ending.
