House Of Cards: 10 Questions That Must Be Answered In Season 3
8. Will President Walker Seek Revenge?
The coup de grace of Frank's masterplan was the seemingly accidental impeachment of the then President Garrett Walker, allowing him to slide gracefully into his position without a single vote being cast in his name. His hands were clean, and anybody who might have had cause to oppose him was either silenced or marginalised. It worked, just, but that didn't stop Walker from seeing through him towards the end, and there's a serious possibility of a lightbulb going off over his head the next time he goes a few rounds on the punching bag that used to decorate his office. If he does realise that all of Frank's actions, from unseating the man he lost the original Secretary of State job to, right up to the publishing of the travel records that led to his downfall, then his mind might well turn to revenge. Just as Frank embarked upon a carefully plotted vendetta at the start of his term in office, so might Walker look to even the score as his replacement starts his. Frank's role in the back-channelling of funds with China would be his first port of call, but given the spare time Walker's got on his hands now (and the connections he'll still have in the White House) he's the last person Underwood will want looking for skeletons in his closet.
