In another instance of House of Cards ripping issues from the headlines, a major threat this season is an Islamic extremist group and as we near the end of the season, the terror they represent hits America. Frank and Conway temporally and reluctantly join forces when a family is taken hostage by members of the radical group. The images of masked men holding civilians at knife point is something we are all too familiar with in this day and age. Obviously looking to draw comparisons to ISIS is a clever move by the show-runners as it is a relatable entity to fear, though its also a bit shocking as the world doesnt seem ready to deal with these issues through fiction.
