House Of The Dragon: Everything We Know So Far

1. It's Success Could Be Vitally Important

While readers of George R. R. Martin's work are avidly waiting on the edge of their seats for The Winds of Winter, the author has instead spent time building the World of Ice and Fire outside of just the main series of novels.

This kind of thing also appears to be happening on screen as well, with several different spin off projects currently in the works. Whether based in Flea Bottom, around the legend of Nymeria and her 10,000 ships, or Dunk and Egg, there could be countless stories still to be adapted into a TV series.

However, just because these are in production right now is no guarantee that they will ever actually be made. There has reportedly already been an incredibly expensive Game of Thrones prequel starring Naomi Watts cancelled before the pilot even aired, and there is the same risk for any other potential show.

What is arguably the most important aspect in making these shows a reality is the success of House of the Dragon. If the series can reinvigorate fans' forgotten love for the Game of Thrones world, then there is no doubt more series will follow. If this falls flat however, there isn't much chance of anything else following, particularly considering how much money was reportedly lost in the failed pilot. There needs to be at least some promise of success, and right now that can only come from House of the Dragon.
