How Better Call Saul Season 4 Ending Connects To Breaking Bad

3. S'all Good, Man

"It's all good, man."

Four simple words, but enough in this context to leave you absolutely floored. Better Call Saul has done bigger things and worse things, and yet this might well be its most chilling moment so far.

After giving his huge emotional speech about Chuck - without reading his letter - he and Kim are excited about his prospects, but then he reveals it was all just another scheme. He really was every bit as insincere as they thought the first time around, only this time he knew how to play the game.

This isn't the Jimmy McGill we know and love, who runs games and cheats the system but has a huge heart. This was a man without remorse, who'll lie and cheat his way to whatever he wants, consequences be damned. This was, as he confirms by saying he'll be practising under a different name, Saul Goodman; the birth of the sleazebag lawyer has taken place.
