I think this goes without saying, but the episode involving the Slap of a Million Exploding Suns has not aged well, and is definitely problematic. It features most of the cast in Asian garb and makeup for a good portion of the episode, which is not something that should be done ever.

This being said, the entire sequence is absolutely ridiculous otherwise. Marshall tells a story of how he set out on a mission to learn the ultimate technique for slapping, so that Barney’s last slap from the slap bet will be one that he will never forget.

This shows Marshall traveling to different parts of the globe to learn the three most important aspects of the perfect slap, including speed, strength, and accuracy. The masters of each of these slap aspects are the three other members of the group, with Ted teaching accuracy, Robin teaching speed, and Lily teaching strength.

This also shows Marshall gaining strength by getting slapped by women that Barney has wronged in the past. This way, the slap will pack the ultimate punch to Barney, and hurt him far worse than any slap before.

The description of this episode alone shows you how strange and odd this episode is, being one of the most problematic, and yet memorable episodes in the series.
