4. Barney And Ted's Mom's 'Shared Moment'
The whole episode Home Wreckers is full of agonisingly painful moments, most often surrounding Virginia (Ted's mother) and Clint's wedding; his dragon song (an ode to their sex life) puts Ted into a trance, a nude painting of the newly weds is revealed and, to top it off, he asks Ted about receiving his mother's milk. But even with all this going on, the moment that stands out for awkwardness is the moment that Barney and Virginia (Ted's mom) share while he is dropping her off at the airport. The sexual tension is tangible as Barney coyly makes polite conversation and then, as their eyes meet, they share a tender kiss. It makes fantastic watching to see the usually lascivious Barney so shy and retiring. Later, at the wedding, he's even in tears at losing the prospect of being Ted's new dad. But he and Virginia will always share that one tender yet somewhat excruciating moment.
