One of the most popular running jokes throughout HIMYM is Robin Scherbatsky's former career as teen pop idol Robin Sparkles. Every now and then another bit of information will leak out and a new Sparkles video will provide endless entertainment for the group. The original Sparkles video, however, is by far the most embarrassing. After the group pry away at Robin's odd fear of Malls, Barney uncovers the truth that she was in fact a pop sensation back in the '90s (and not a porn star as previously expected). The production quality would likely have been better if she had starred in a porno, the cringe factor coming from the overwhelmingly '80s style music video (it's supposed to be the '90s, but Canada was a bit behind). Seeing how different the now supremely cool Robin was back in her tween years is just as brilliant as seeing Ted back in his alternative youth. The group watch the video over and over, revelling in it's '80's denim goodness.
