Ted and Barney are at a club on St. Patrick's Day and he accidentally bumps into this dark-haired girl. But because it's such a quick scene and Ted never pursues her any further than the "I'm sorry," nothing is ever thought of it. But let us all think about that 30 second scene. Why bump into her? Why even show a scene where he does that? Because in the premise of the show, it all makes sense. Ted is a huge believer of fate and destiny, and he talks about how their mother was at this same party and same nightclub, but they never actually meet. She's got dark hair, too, just like the girl in the dating service pictures, except her face is blurred out of them. My money is on her, and a lot of people think the same thing as well.
