6. Last Forever - Part Two
In the series finale, many things are wrapped up, tying the show in a nice, neat bow. There are some upsetting moments in the episode since Robin and Barney break up, undoing what the show had been leading to for a long time, and also invalidating most of the last season. It is amicable however, and they remain friends knowing that it was just their time and that neither had any regrets about it.
There are some heart-warming moments too as we’d all feared that the future would result in the gang never seeing each other again, though this episode shows that they always meet up for the important stuff and they’re all happy in their own lives. We see Ted’s marriage to the woman of his dreams, the event the entire show has been leading up to, and it’s as perfect as he always wanted it to be.
However, despite the happy moments, the real kick in the teeth is that Ted and Robin end up together in the end, an event which has lead many fans to skip the episode entirely when re-watching it as they believe that plot point to have ruined everything the show stood for.
