Born Again... with a twist.

The second season of Marvel's Iron Fist may be releasing a few months or so before Daredevil Season 2, but that doesn't mean that fans have forgotten about Matt Murdock. The series has been filming for months now, with Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio having provided semi-regular updates via Twitter, and with The Defenders having strongly hinted that an adaptation of Born Again could be on the way, it's easy to understand why fans are so excited.

The comic, written by Frank Miller and drawn by David Mazzucchelli, is highly regarded by fans and is highly cited as one of the greatest comic book stories ever told. As with both seasons of the TV show, however, a panel-for-panel recreation of the comic is unlikely; seasons 1 and 2 took inspiration from dozens of different series (not just Miller's), and with the latest news being that Season 3 will include Bullseye - who did not originally feature in that story - the trend now looks set to continue.

It was previously reported that Wilson Bethel, who's said to be playing an FBI agent in the show, would take on the role of either the Sin Eater or Bullseye. Now, thanks to a post by a fitness instructor working with Bethel and Daredevil actor Charlie Cox, it looks as though Bethel will indeed be playing Lester.

Coming by way of Naqam Washington, the post reads:

"The boys training hard in the lab! Season 3 of Daredevil going to be crazy! #Daredevil and #Bullseye".

This pretty much confirms those earlier reports that Bethel would be playing the villain, and though the character didn't originally have a role in Born Again, the news will no doubt prove to be exciting for fans of the Hell's Kitchen hero, with Bullseye having last been portrayed by Colin Farrell in Mark Steven Johnson's panned Daredevil film from 2003.

How do you feel about Bullseye's inclusion in Daredevil Season 3? Would you have preferred a different villain? Please share your thoughts down in the comments below!

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
