Iron Fist Season 2 Review: 5 Ups & 7 Downs
2. The Pacing Is Still Terrible
Even with its truncated run of episodes, this season is beleaguered by most of the same pacing issues which made the first a stamina-eroding slog. Scenes routinely drag on far longer than they need to and there's a self-indulgent air to the many overly-chatty dialogues which are mere excuses to vomit exposition at the audience.
Some rather long stretches frequently pass between meaty action sequences, and considering how inconsistent the storytelling and characterisation are, some episodes can feel like an absolute chore to get through.
Again, this is true of Marvel Netflix on the whole, and while it's great that the streaming giant allows episodes to run as long as they "need" to, this is one instance which might actually benefit from the enforced 42-minute run-time of a traditional network show.
If nothing else, it'd force the editing team to keep things tighter and cut down on the slow-as-molasses chit-chat.
