It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: 10 Most Insane Fan Theories
3. The Gang Are All Animals. Literally
This one is utterly wild, and although it's completely absurd, it has a lot of decent points that make it weirdly sensical. It explains the idea that the only owner of Paddy's Pub is, in fact, Frank and that every other member of The Gang is one of his pets. He imagines them acting in these ridiculous scenarios because he is having a crisis in life and doesn't have any friends.
Their animal counterparts make tonnes of sense too. Dennis is a cat, and he's lazy and arrogant but very likely to attack if provoked. We've seen him marry a woman obsessed with felines and we even watched as he has scratched Mac before. Speaking of Mac, he is a dog. That's why he is loyal to a fault and always acts as the bodyguard of the Pub, despite being rather terrible at it.
Further from this, Charlie is a rat. Not only is he obsessed with them but lives like one. He's fascinated by the sewers, loves cheese and has terrible personal hygiene. Then most predictably and unmistakably, Dee is a bird.
Of course, this theory makes season one somewhat counterproductive, but that can be explained away as happening entirely in Frank's imagination. This concept is utterly absurd but heart-warming.
