It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: 10 Most Insane Fan Theories
2. The Gang Are All Unreliable Narrators
This is another idea that could be utterly possible as something the showrunners would introduce into the canon. It discusses the notion that The Gang don't look the way that they do, that in fact, the images we see are the projected ideas of what they want to be, rather than who they really are: a group of narcissists would imagine themselves to be far more attractive and successful.
Mac may make you believe that he is a gym-goer with big arms, but really he is a tiny man who could barely swat a fly. Dee wants you to think that she is a tall, good looking, cool woman, but she is still confined to her back-brace. Finally, Dennis seems like a handsome and charismatic figure, but he is the complete opposite. Explaining why he needs to go to such manipulative extents to get girls to sleep with him.
The theory also discusses how Frank and Charlie actually look as they are since they don't care for their outward appearances too much.
It is a fun idea but doesn't make sense when you think about Mac's fat period. But otherwise, it's a surprisingly accurate way to imagine the characters being unreliable as narrators.
