It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: 10 Reasons It's The Funniest Show On TV

9. The McPoyles Are Truly Disgusting

mcpoyle2sized When your show stars a group of borderline sociopathic, self-important young people who own a bar, you need to think of an even worse kind of person to antagonize them. For The Gang, that "worse kind of person" would be the McPoyles. They are a sweaty, slimy, incestuous family. The two main members of the family are Ryan and Liam, who have tormented Charlie since elementary school and are often joined by their sister Margaret, a deaf-mute. They have numerous disgusting habits, including"enjoying humidity" and being sweaty, drinking warm milk, and making out with each other. They are truly and utterly disgusting, and The Gang has no shame telling them that. Because It's Always Sunny is such a ridiculous show, the bar for likeable characters is remarkably low, and yet, the McPoyles limbo lower and lower beneath that bar with every appearance. In episodes like "The Gang Gets Held Hostage," the audience feels just as tortured as The Gang during scenes of incest and sweaty work. The McPoyles are a fantastic antagonist for our beloved bar owners, and they are so much fun to hate.
