It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: 10 Reasons It's The Funniest Show On TV

8. Every Episode Is Narcissists Versus Narcissists

One of the most brilliant tactics that It's Always Sunny consistently uses is that The Gang can be divided into any combination of characters and - no matter what - shenanigans will ensue. The relationships between the characters are consistent: the guys look down on Dee, Mac and Dennis think they're better than Charlie but Charlie and Mac are still best friends, Frank and Charlie are weirdly good friends and probably related, and Dennis and Dee will almost always align against Frank. But even with these steady relationships, every episode brings about a new fresh combination of characters in their stories. In the premiere, "The Gang Gets Racist," Dee and Mac align when they don't like the fact that Paddy's is becoming a gay hot spot while Charlie and Dennis think they should keep things the way they are. In season two's "Hundred Dollar Baby," Frank and Dee work together to win a fight at the gym while Mac and Dennis scheme a way for Charlie to win them money in an underground fighting ring. Then later in season four's "Mac and Dennis: Manhunters," Mac and Dennis spent the episode hunting Rickety Cricket (who we'll get too later) while Frank tricks Charlie and Dee into eating human meat, which they then must search for during the rest of the episode. These are examples of classic episodes, and the ability of the gang to be so morally flexible within their friend group is a huge part of what keeps each episode feeling completely original and hilarious.
