It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: The Worst Episode From Every Season
8. Season 7 - Frank's Brother
"Shadynastyyyyyyy."
Like "The Gang Cracks The Liberty Bell", this one was inevitable. "Frank's Brother" is universally reviled and is often touted as one of, if not the worst, episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. If you try to argue against that, then you're fighting an uphill battle.
The episode follows as Frank's older brother (Gino) arrives at Paddy's and confronts his younger sibling. We then learn all about Frank's sordid past in the drug and crime-filled 1960s Jazz Club scene.
It's not hyperbole to say that this one really did jump the shark, giving viewers a ludicrous story that was way too convoluted and even managed to mess with the show's canon. No one was asking to learn about Frank's past as fans already had a good idea about it, and this ended up going against that. So, his backstory as a ruthless businessman was driven away in favour of him being a thwarted lover and former club owner? It just felt wrong.
It's also painfully unfunny, as the gags revolve entirely around seeing Danny DeVito in a wig and the silliness of the episode, both of which made viewers cringe.
