It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: The Worst Episode From Every Season
7. Season 8 - Charlie's Mom Has Cancer
Everybody loves Charlie's mum, but no one wanted to see a rehash of the cancer storyline from season one ("Charlie Has Cancer"). While that truly was a classic episode, it felt pointless to re-explore the idea, even if it was from the perspective of the adorable Bonnie Kelly.
In "Charlie's Mom Has Cancer", the gang rally behind Bonnie after she reveals to Charlie that she has cancer. However, it eventually comes to light that this is not true. Alongside this, Dee, Dennis and Frank go on a treasure hunt around Philly, with a shocking ending.
This one suffers from similar issues to previous entries, most notably in the lacklustre guest role and lack of consistency in the concept. The Bonnie/cancer angle is too familiar and predictable, and the subplot was funny enough to overshadow the main story. The dramatic ending to that B-story is the episode's saving grace, but the entire thing still felt underdeveloped.
Sure, the surprise of seeing P Diddy playing Dr Jinx was a nice moment, but the episode does precious little with him outside of that initial shock. Overall, the outing isn't bad but slips up more than others.
