Marvel's Jessica Jones: 13 Big Questions After Binge-Watching Season 1

4. How Did Jessica Get Her Powers?

While we get a look at the childhoods of both Jessica and Kilgrave, it's only the latter's 'origin story' that we get, at least in terms of how they got their powers. For Kilgrave, or Kevin, it's as a result of experiments performed on him by his parents as a small boy. For Jessica, however, there isn't such a reveal. It turns out that it stems from a car accident she was in, which killed her parents and brother, and that there were some chemicals spilled there as well, but nothing actually connects the various dots to tell us how this led to her having super strength. What were the chemicals involved, and are they directly responsible? Or could there be some other involvement that caused her to develop her 'gifts'?
