Lantern: 10 Things You Need To Know About The Newly Announced Green Lantern TV Series
7. Production Is Expected To Start By Mid-2021
With everything going on in the world right now, it's hardly a surprise that productions are taking a little longer to get started than expected. The Batman and Jurassic World: Dominion have both been forced to shut down for two weeks after positive tests, while Marvel Studios has had to shift back a number of its Disney+ shows as work slowly starts to resume on them.
In the case of Lantern, the current plan is for production to begin in mid-2021, so that means it's unlikely to debut on HBO Max until 2022 at the very earliest.
At this time, it's said the series is breaking down the story stage, with directors and cast members next to be sought out once that process is finished (that means there's a chance some casting news will be revealed before the year is over, but you probably shouldn't bank on it).
HBO Max is clearly takes these DC Comics properties seriously, because as well as the existing shows from the soon to be defunct DC Universe streaming service, Justice League Dark, an untitled spinoff of Matt Reeves' The Batman, and Justice League Dark are all in the works for the platform.
