Lantern: 10 Things You Need To Know About The Newly Announced Green Lantern TV Series
8. It's Received A 10 Episode Straight-To-Series Order
Lantern has completely skipped the pilot stage, and has instead been ordered straight-to-series with a total of ten episodes heading to HBO Max. That's a big commitment, and one that signals a lot of confidence in this show resonating with subscribers and fans of the comic books.
Of course, if this were a regular series on network television, then it would be cancelled if it didn't live up to expectations after a certain number of episodes, but things work differently with streaming, so a commitment like this was to be expected. 10 weekly instalments is still pretty solid, though, and a sign Warner Bros. is taking this reboot seriously.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show be "a saga spanning decades and galaxies," while the trade adds that it's, "rumoured to possibly [be] the most expensive show coming from [Greg] Berlanti, one of the most prolific producers working in TV today."
If Berlanti's name rings a bell, it's because he's the man overseeing all these DC TV shows - and beyond - so as another of the writers on the Green Lantern movie, he likely wants to make things right here.
