Legion: Ranking Every Main Character From Worst To Best
5. Cary Loudermilk
As stated before, Cary and Kerry have a rather bizarre relationship due to the fact that they share a body. However, as it stands, Cary's side of the equation is the more fleshed out of the two, for a variety of reasons.
First and foremost, Cary is the host; meaning that Kerry essentially lives inside of him, only taking on her separate physical form when duty calls. One key thing to note about this is that while the two are as one, Kerry does not age and Cary ages normally. As a result of this, Cary has become something of a father figure for Kerry; due to the fact that he is a middle-aged man, whereas her body and mind are still that of a twenty-something (hence her childlike behavior.)
It is because of this dynamic that Cary lives his life brutally aware of not only his own mortality, but that of his doppelgänger, as it were. In fact, we see just how much he cares for Kerry when he tends to the wounded girl after she is injured, merging with her to take on her pain as his own.
In addition, Cary is very entertaining just on his own. Whereas the others seem to adhere to set behavior, he is a bit of a moving target. He can be funny, serious, sarcastic or sincere, depending on the situation. It's because of this that he is oddly comforting, and a member of the group they couldn't live without.
