Legion: Ranking Every Main Character From Worst To Best
4. Amy Haller
David's older sister, Amy, is introduced early on as a bubbly, quaint person who is doing all she can to help her brother work through his (alleged) psychiatric problems, while doing her best to maintain a life of her own. She had some funny moments in Chapter 1 and was undoubtedly a good bit of fun during what screentime she had.
However, it's only after she was kidnapped and tortured by Division 3 that we began to see that there was far more to her than meets the eye. We discover that she has known since childhood that David was adopted and, to a degree, about his powers. Yet, she remained silent out of fear as things progressed and David's life hit a downward spiral that ultimately landed him in a psych ward.
She feels an immeasurable amount of guilt, which is made clear when everyone ends up back at the institution via the astral plane. In this dreamscape, Amy is one of the nurses and regularly subjects David and his friends to verbal and physical abuse. This peek into her psyche shows that she feels just as responsible for what David went through as those who directly put him through it. This arc materialized at a brilliantly gradual pace, and turned a character who initially appeared to be all but flat into one of the most subtly dynamic of the entire show. Amy is a prime example of how incredibly effective subtext can be.
