Loki Season 2 Episode 1 Review - 7 Ups & 2 Downs
4. Up - Having Fun With Time Travel
Ouroboros earned a Down due to the loose nature of the time travelling rules, however that doesn't mean that said time travelling wasn't a huge amount of fun. The episode managed to tell a unique story in a unique way, with Ke Huy Quan at the very heart of it.
As Loki and Mobius went down to R&A to visit BO, the former time slipped to the exact same point in the past, putting him in front of BO however many years earlier. The author of the TVA's Guidebook then had two conversations simultaneously across time, with one informing the other.
The MCU has done time travel before and relatively recently, and in all honesty, it could have been done a lot better. However, with time moving differently in the TVA, the writers took the opportunity to have a little fun with the concept.
It's hard to say whether this part of the episode would have been as fun or compelling with anyone other than Ke Huy Quan having the dual conversations, but it doesn't matter. Marvel Studios brought in the Everything Everywhere All at Once star, and so far has utilised him exceptionally well.
