Loki Season 2 Episode 1 Review - 7 Ups & 2 Downs
5. Up - Improved Special Effects
Over recent years, special effects in movies have come under heavy scrutiny, and the comic book movie genre is at the top of this list. Unfortunately, it's undeniable that the quality of the CGI used has dipped considerably.
Movies like Multiverse of Madness, Love and Thunder, and The Flash in particular have been blasted for poor CGI, as well as a number of other MCU projects. This extends to life on Disney+, with the likes of Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk falling below expectations.
With Loki however, it would seem that the trend may be broken. After a string of disappointments in terms of visual effects, most recently the Secret Invasion finale, the second season opener of Loki looked magnificent. From the TVA itself, to Loki's time slipping, and the Temporal Loom at the end of the episode, everything was stunning.
With the adventures that the next five episodes are going to bring, it remains to be seen whether this standard will endure, but it couldn't have started much better.
