Lucifer: Every Season Finale Ranked Worst To Best (So Far)
3. A Chance At A Happy Ending - Season 5
A Chance At A Happy Ending is the most recent finale, and shook up the status quo more than any other.
Lucifer becoming God is the boldest move any season has pulled and the fight between Michael and Lucifer to become God is very well executed. Tom Ellis delivers great performances as both Lucifer and Michael and the escalation during the fight keeps the audience gripped to the very end.
There's also some solid emotional beats, Maze mourning Dan works well and Amemadiel's reaction to the loss of Remiel, while brief, is effective. Lucifer and Chloe also get a nice focus and Lucifer's confession of love to her feels very well earned given all they've been through.
Unfortunately with how much this episode has to tackle some of the show's best characters, notably Ella and Linda, get overlooked. Given that the two of them were a big focus in season 5 it's a shame that their respective arcs, Ella dealing with her inner demons and Linda reconnecting with her daughter, don't get addressed here.
However, this episode is still an exciting finale that leaves the show in a very interesting place for its final season.
