Luke Cage Season 2: What The Ending Means For The Netflix Marvel Universe
2. The Defenders
After the events of both Jessica Jones season one and The Defenders, Luke established a sort of friendship with those who he helped defend the city. However, if Luke continues down the path he's currently on, he will most certainly alienate his teammates, as he has already done with Claire.
While Luke and Jessica currently have a somewhat awkward relationship (she having killed Reva Connors while under the control of Killgrave), the end of The Defenders hinted that they are trying to put their differences behind them, giving way for Jessica to assist Luke if he goes too far. Jessica herself hasn't got the cleanest of hands (especially after the second season of her show), making her a great choice to help Luke in his struggle, as she would add some real emotion, and maybe even properly set up their fan-favourite romance.
As another of Luke's friends, it is suspected that Danny will be much the same as Jessica and Misty when it comes to reeling Luke in, as Rand has trodden a similar path in the past; refusing help from those who care about him and instead accepting help from allies who aren't as law-abiding (namely the hatchet men). While in both Luke and Danny's cases the criminals that have helped them may not have been the worst of the worst, Luke must maintain a good relationship with the heads of two crime families, making him far more susceptible to give into his darker side, making Danny (along with Luke's other allies) vital in ensuring he doesn't go too far.
