This is a funny one. In normal circumstances we'll probably all agree you shouldn't steal the identity of your dead friend and comrade. That said, we haven't all been in the same situation as Don Draper, or rather, Dick Whitman. After a tough childhood featuring brothels and witnessing the death of his abusive father, Whitman enlists in the Korean War. Not surprisingly, things are tough over there. Sent to build a field hospital under the command of Lieutenant Donal Draper, his brothers in arms are quickly shot down. When his commanding officer is also killed in an explosion, Dick has only one option: switch the dog tags and finally go home. It seems harsh to begrudge him this in such dire circumstances. Even if we allow him the identity theft though, he's far from without fault once he gets home. There's the matter of lying to his wife and family about his assumed identity, not to mention trying to seduce the real Don Draper's niece some years later. Amazing that stealing a dead man's identity ranks so low on the list really.
