Malcolm In The Middle: Every Lead Character Ranked From Worst To Best
1. Hal
It really could be no one else.
When thinking about Malcolm in the Middle's best elements, you come up with plenty of buzzwords like humour, relatability, goofiness and character. Hal is the person who embodies all of these aspects best. He captures everything that made the show unique, thanks to his position as a goofy dad, massive overreactions and phenomenal performance from Bryan Cranston.
The father of the Wilkersons was by far the funniest character, and this came from the fact that he constantly made mountains out of molehills. Whether it was because he panicked too quickly or just got a little too invested in something (dance revolution, rollerblading or speed-walking, for example), you could always rely on him for some ridiculously over-the-top humour.
However, despite how ridiculous this character was, you could still relate to him as he fulfilled the fun dad archetype. He was embarrassing and oblivious but cared about his wife and kids more than anything else in the world. Sure, his ego got out of whack sometimes, but he always fell back to loving his family.
Sometimes it's hard to remember that Walter White hasn't always been a badass.
