Marvel's Iron Fist: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

1. The Defenders Aren't Close To Being United Yet

With the super ensemble event show coming later this year, you could have put money on the end of Iron Fist setting up the team getting together in some way - the same way the MCU movies intertwine. But that's absolutely not the case here and we've got a long way to go and there are a lot of questions to be answered before they'll fit together easily.

At this stage only Jeri Hogarth and Claire Temple really tie the characters together (whether directly or indirectly). Jessica and Luke obviously have previous, but it remains to be seen how they'll get on, and Matt Murdock operates at the opposite end of the moral chain to them. And then Danny Rand is a different animal entirely.

The most feasible suggestion is that Claire Temple is the unifying element: that she ends up in peril, which brings each of the Defenders to their meeting point (Midland Circle as already revealed by EW) independently. But it's still strange that so little real connecting fibre has already been laid down with only eight episodes in the mini-series.
