Marvel's Iron Fist: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

12. So, What, No More K'Un Lun?!

Having spent 13 episodes insisting that K'Un-Lun is both mystical and sacred, and that its destruction would be catastrophic to the entire universe - hence Iron Fist's duty of protection - the show destroys the place almost casually (in order to give Danny a reason to come back to New York for The Defenders).

The first big question here is who actually did it: the Hand's two separate leaders were indisposed, and you wouldn't trust the soldiers themselves to attack leaderless - they're usually pretty hopeless in battle. Could it have been an inside job? Or does K'Un-Lun require protection solely because it's utterly defenceless like a turtle out of its shell?

And even more importantly, what does this mean to the rest of the universe? It was very firmly established that the fall of K'Un-Lun would have grave consequences, but it appears not to have even caused enough of a ripple for Danny and Davos to even feel it happening in their chis. And since we weren't even remotely introduced to the place, it's hard to even tell why it was so important in the first place.

Presumably, a second series would explore those ramifications, but they can't be bad enough to stop Danny teaming up with the other Defenders against their new enemy. Unless Sigourney Weaver was somehow involved in this devastating attack too?
