Marvel's Luke Cage: Ranking Every Major Character From Worst To Best
3. Luke Cage
Finest Moment: Taking down Crispus Attucks.
Yes he's great, but he's not quite interesting enough to get him the top spot. He's a little too stoic and a little too one-note (there's not a great deal of complexity there, even if his one dimension is very compelling to watch).
There's something beautiful about the anti-choreography that goes into his fighting too. After Daredevil's almost balletic fighting, watching The Defenders' equivalent of the Hulk smashing his way casually through numerous mooks is entirely delightful.
He also has something of the old blaxploitation classics about him: the cheesy one-liners, the animal magnetism, the tangible sexual energy... And he perfectly sells the idea of a local hero wanting to protect the heart of his home, no matter what it means to his desire for a quiet life. In that respect too, he's also a little like an old gunslinger, and as a Western fan, that's no bad thing.
