Marvel's The Defenders: 8 Things That Must Happen

5. Jessica And Luke Make Up

It's not just Danny Rand that Luke Cage has a major connection with in the comics. Luke and Jessica Jones are actually one of the big fan-favourite couples of the Marvel comics universe - currently, they are married with a daughter. Instead of replicating this relationship, the Netflix shows have so far taken a surprising direction with the pair. After their messy break-up in Jessica Jones, saying things are on bad terms between them is like saying Jessica is a bit of an alcoholic.

It's sad for comics fans to see these characters so estranged so it would be nice to have the pair reconcile in The Defenders. To be clear, it would be wrong to immediately put them back into a relationship, as Luke is just beginning a romance with Claire Temple. However, a hint that there is still something between them that could develop over time would be the way to go.

Like with Danny and Luke, The Defenders needs to form bonds between the four heroes so they can feel like a unit. That doesn't mean that everyone has to be super-friends but the complex relationship between Jess and Luke, where their attraction is held back by the baggage of their pasts, is such a ripe dynamic to explore, it would be a shame to do nothing with it.
