3. Luke Cage

While his solo series might have had some unfortunate negatives, there is no denying that Mike Colter is excellent as the Hero of Harlem and he delivers another great turn here when rubbing shoulders with the rest of the Defenders.

Each of the four brings something unique to the table and what Luke provides is the moralled and incorruptible heart of the team. His best moment in this regard comes when he is the last man standing against the idea of blowing up the Hand. Though he eventually comes around, he is dedicated to ensuring no innocent lives are killed. It just goes to show how Luke is clearly the biggest hero out of the Defenders.

The only niggle is how easily he gets out of prison, as it feels like that should have been a much more substantial hurdle for Luke to overcome. Maybe the repercussions of his time behind bars will be picked back up in Luke Cage season two?
