Marvel's Daredevil Season 3: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

8. Matt Can Actually Be Happy (For A Brief Time, At Least)

Matt's a pretty miserable person. It's kind of his thing, but it goes even further in Season 3: the darkness fully consumes him, and he has to go to drastic lengths to keep on fighting, letting the devil out in the process.

He gets a little too emo at times in Season 3, but it's worth it at the end: with Fisk defeated, Dex injured, and those he cares about safe, he can actually allow himself to be happy. He can, as he says, be without fear.

That should mark a major transition for him going into Season 4, which will allow for the show to depict Daredevil as more of a swashbuckling hero who is determined to be happy no matter what. It probably won't last for good, given the tone of the series so far, but it should at least let things get lighter for a spell, and give Charlie Cox a chance to use his charisma a little bit more.
