MCU: 10 Netflix Mistakes The Disney Plus TV Shows MUST Avoid

3. Engineering An Underwhelming Crossover Event

The Defenders itself was cool... To a certain degree. It was awesome seeing the four brooding superheroes come together, kick ass in unison and stand up for something bigger than themselves. Unfortunately, with the exception of Sigourney Weaver's prematurely disposed character, the villains were poor. And the ultimate resolve of a one-on-one fight with a supposedly evil Elektra was far less than what anyone was hoping for.

The Defenders one-off series was another casualty of the mid-season peak. But there was more collateral involved in its creation. Both Daredevil Season 2 and Iron Fist Season 1 wobbled uneasily between their own inclusive story arcs and the pre-Defenders sub-plot involving The Hand, which caused an inharmonious marriage in both cases. As a result, all of the above fell apart, and Netflix Marvel only managed to regain its footing after moving on from this crossover event.

Weaving in crossover events isn't as mind-blowing as it seemed 10 years ago. It's been done to death. So if Disney Plus do attempt it, they had better make sure not to put the integrity of their standalone shows on the line during the process.
