6. The Fingers Of The Hand - The Defenders
In The Defenders, the writers had the tough job of finally fleshing out the Hand as more than just the nebulous ninja clan that Daredevil had painted them as. As such, revealing the various leaders - or Fingers - of the Hand was a good move on paper, as it helped further personify the threat. Unfortunately, the three supporting Hand leaders - not counting Madame Gao (who's always great value) and Alexandra (more on her later) - hardly make an impression
Firstly, it would have worked better if we had met all of these characters before. Clearly, they regretted killing off Nobu at the end of Daredevil season 2, as we get the half-hearted retcon that Murakami was Nobu's boss all along. Likewise, Sowande could have featured in Luke Cage to set up his appearance here but, as it is, he has little weight. That said, we first met Bakuto in Iron Fist, and he's just as boring.
In fact, you might say that the Fingers of the Hand just don't pack much of a punch.
