19. Radnor Takes Over
Since the first episode Bob Saget, playing the unseen Future Ted, has been the one narrating the story to his kids in every episode. Until the finale that is. In Last Forever Josh Radnor takes over narration duties in impressively non-jarring fashion, culminating in the reveal of Future Ted on the other side of his desk from the long-suffering children. While it was sad to not have Saget play a role in the finale of a show hes been a vocal constant in for the entire run, it ultimately allowed for the ending to feel truly final.
18. The Bet Concludes
With The End Of The Aisles final slap, itd be easy to forget another of the shows long-running bets. Revealed in Season 7's No Pressure, Marshall and Lily have a severe habit of betting on their friends lives. One of the more destructive is on whether Ted and Robin will end up together (Marshall is Team Tobin, Lily's not too sure) and it gets a (almost) conclusion in Last Forever. Its blink-and-you-miss-it, but at Teds wedding Lily finally gets her money. Although they may need to be some reimbursement given the series surprise ending.
