Mindhunter Season 2 Review: 5 Ups & 3 Downs
3. More Of The Same, But In A Good Way
While some second seasons always seek to reinvent the wheel, Mindhunter thankfully stuck to what it knows. Season 2 does shake up the formula in some ways, but crucially, in others it was very much more of the same. Season 1 was adored for a reason, so there was no point to changing some of the things that worked.
Previously, Holden and Bill's interviews with the killers were some of the most engaging and interesting scenes of the whole show and it's no different this time around. While it was always going to be difficult to beat Cameron Britton's Ed Kemper, the interviews with Charles Mason and Son of Sam among others once again struck the mark. It's just a shame they were so short, seeing as there was a potential for more.
Once again, the dynamic between core characters remains the focal point of the show. The complicated relations, complete with frequent secret keeping, between Gregg, Wendy, Bill and Holden really glue the show together and feature heavily in some of the show's best scenes.
