Mr. Robot Season 2: 10 Things You Need To Know
9. It'll Be More Cinematic (And Sam Esmail Will Direct It All)
Sam Esmail is the brains behind Mr Robot, the man responsible for creating it, and writing and producing a number of episodes last year as well. In addition to that, he directed three of them - including the season finale - and now he's stepping up to take on a much bigger challenge.
Taking a leaf out of the Cary Fukunaga playbook, Esmail's taken on the epic task of directing every Season 2 episode himself (although Fukunaga didn't write True Detective, so Esmail's carrying an even greater load). That's putting a lot on his shoulders, but could work in channeling through his particular vision for the show.
In addition to that, the series is also set to be more cinematic this year. Although it was looked great, full of interesting framing and composition and dark, brooding shots of Elliot, it's actually being shot more like a movie this year. All the scripts have been written in advance, and they've shot everything that happens in a particular location at once, regardless of which episode it's in.
